From the historic Alamo Mission to the modern-day River Walk, San Antonio has been witness to its own set of revolutions and recently provided the backdrop for coupon experts to share insights and explore industry trends. Coupons are entering a pivotal moment in time as demographics shift and preferences change.

The professionals who gathered recently in San Antonio set out to explore whether the modernization of coupons represented an evolution of a timeless promotional vehicle or a complete revolution of how shoppers and brands utilize coupons within their promotional mix.

Trends: National Brands Driving Store Traffic But Who’s Winning The Sale?

 

Allergy season is in full bloom and brand marketers are trying to “ease your sneeze” with high-value Free Standing Insert (FSI) and digital coupon offers.

Trends: 70% of Consumers Still Look to Traditional Paper-Based Coupons for Savings

Study finds that Traditional Print Coupons have Eight Times the Redemption Rate of Digital Coupons  
 

Seventy percent of consumer packaged goods coupon users still use print-based coupons such as those in free standing inserts (FSI) to find savings1 according to a study that will be presented by GfK Custom Research and News America Marketing at the Association of Coupon Professionals’ 10th annual Industry Coupon Conference on Thursday, April 16 in San Antonio.

Trends: 2014 Most Frugal Cities

Residents of San Francisco are known for being tech-savvy entrepreneurs, but according to the newly released 2014 Most Frugal Cities list from Coupons.com, they are also the savviest coupon users in the nation. According to the Coupons.com Savings Index1, shoppers across the U.S. saved more than $2 billion on groceries and household goods by using more than 1.6 billion coupons.

San Francisco topped last year’s winner, Orlando, and snagged the number one spot – previously number 14 on the list – with more than $56.6 million in savings from Coupons.com. Washington D.C. (#2) surpassed both Orlando (#3) and Tampa (#4), with Charlotte(#5) and Atlanta (#6) staying in their respective spots from 2013. Nashville came in at (#7) with Cleveland (#8), Denver (#9) and Virginia (#10) rounding out …

It’s that time of year again when we see a big spike in Mexican food FSI activity as manufacturers look to capitalize on Cinco de Mayo festivities. Mexican themed advertisements will be in full swing this week and for the upcoming weekend. All themed coupon events to this point have been food related, but there’s much to talk about.

Member’s Corner: Fischer Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

Ron Fischer, President of Redemption Processing Representatives, Inc. was awarded the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award while attending the Association of Coupon Professionals annual conference held in San Antonio this past week.

 

According to the ACP, “the award is designed to recognize an industry professional who has succeeded within his or her own organization and inspired change and growth within the coupon promotion industry.”  Introduced in 1998, there have been 12 recipients, among which included Diane DuBois of Nestle USA, Carl Bisson of General Mills, Don King of Procter & Gamble and MaryAnn Pindulic of Unilever.  Ron thanked the audience and stated …
